How long have you been playing on Citadel Network?: I have been playing since the East German RP if not before.

How much experience do you have with roleplay as a whole?:
I have a ton of experience around Garry's Mod, other games, etc. There is so much I have done that I will not bore one with all of the details. Instead just know I have done everything from Sandbox to Clockwork.

Character name:
Rudolf von Heusmann

Character background:
Born into an era of great progress and some squander, Rudolf von Heusmann was born in posh luxury and sheltered from the adversity of his surroundings. Being born in 1870, Rudolf Adalbert Pyrmont von Heusmann was born into the quaintness of a simplistic aristocratic life. His father, Heinrich von Heusmann, was a distant and harsh father. He ran a family (2 boys and 1 girl) almost like a militaristic theatre. He expected greatness to come of his family but his leave of absences did not help with his dream. Helena von Heusmann (Heinrichs wife) was stuck with the children while her husband was away. Rudolf and his siblings really only knew their mother and the aides around the estate. At an early age, he took a likeness for technology and its advancements. His father sent him to a prestigious school in Switzerland where he would pursue his infatuations with technological advancements. Many years later, Rudolf would drop out of the École des progrès technologiques (due to course failure) to pursue his seemingly last resort as his father put it. His father, being a former Generalmajor in the Kaiser's Großer Generalstab, would demand Rudolf to begin his career in the Deutsches Heer. His father would use his contacts to get Rudolf into the Preußische Kriegsakademie (a general military school used for officer training). (It would be here where Rudolf von Heusmann gained his modern demeanor). Due to his father's ability to get him into the school, Rudolf would be exempt from the entrance examination that included tactics, surveying, geography, mathematics, and French. Upon his entrance into the school, he would have 20 hours of lecturing per week from various professors of different backgrounds teaching differentiating things. For example, Tactical Theory, Leadership, Military History, Stress Management, Military Law, Weapon Information, and Physical Training.  Once in a while, a member from the Great General Staff would give instruction and real-life examples and tell about their experience. Alongside his many militaristic studies, he was also required to study mathematics and science (something Rudolf excelled at). He would spend a great deal of time visiting the interworkings of the "War Machine" as one of his professors called it. He would attend lectures at fortifications, arms factories, and even at railway stations. At the end of his courses he took what would be the second examination, only just barely passing (his non-core studies AKA non-military studies is what allowed him to pass) he and 29 other students would continue on with more sophisticated and focused studies on the art of war. After 4 years of the academy, Rudolf would begin his career in the military. Being assigned to the II Army Inspectorate (headquartered in Berlin) he would do many things as an Oberleutnant. (See the military description below for a continuation of his military career). Many decades later after putting to rest his arms in the Great War having achieved the Iron Cross 2nd and First Class, would settle down in his estate while frequently visiting his vacation estate in the mountains of Austria. His father, having passed away a few years prior would be left with the duty of caring for his mother. His mother, recently diagnosed with breast cancer, would lounge the family home being taken care of by Rudolf and the house aides. Rudolf being recently married being in his 40s was reluctant to have children due to his age but nevertheless tried with his wife, Victoria. After many months of trying, they ended up having 2 children, Johann Ruprecht Joll von Heusmann and Louise Wilhelmina von Heusmann. Rudolf would care for his children, unlike his father who was distant and isolated from Rudolf. He gave everything to his children and deeply spoiled him, which would often upset his Austrian wife. Living in the Weimar Republic was not very profitable for the von Heusmann's. A company left to him by his father, Heusmann Industrial, took a massive hit during the Weimar Republic. As hyperinflation grew at an alarming rate and the government continued the printing of more money, the Republic, in 1923 could no longer afford the reparations required by the Versailles Treaty. Therefore, upon the occupation of the Ruhr, Heusmann Industrial was forcibly taken control by the French and Belgian troops occupying the region. Rudolf and his friends in the mining and manufacturing sphere lobbied the government until they called strikes and encouraged passive resistance in the region. After many months of a spiraling economy and the Heusmann Families company being possessed by foreign adversaries, the government would finally introduce on the 15th of November the Rentenmark. this redenomination helped to return the reparation payments and the Ruhr was finally given back to the Germans under the Locarno Treaties and Heusmann Industrial would begin to regrow its empire. Being of much-solidified wealth, Rudolf would strategically buy up a lot of competition in the Mining and Manufacturing sector. At the companies peak, Heusmann Industrial controlled over 80% of the market thus his company given the title of a Monopoly. His company would become very famous within the nation supplying it with almost all of its resource needs controlling all logistics regarding resources. He would hire industrial Hugo Stinnes to be the C.E.O. of his colossal empire while he stepped down and remained as Founder & a lifetime board member retaining 64% of the companies shares. He would end up retiring from most affairs except for serving as a Board member for his company and a somewhat newly founded: Union Bank of Switzerland. (He would come to be a board member as one of his school friends from his childhood school was the Founder of this bank). These two positions would afford the Heusmann family to live life comfortably for years to come. Eventually, after the dissolution of his Duchy, he would go back to Berlin (where he spent his time pre-war in the inspectorate). He would be able to find a job in Berlin. He became the Polizeipraisdent der Berlin Polizei (using his prior military experience to guide him in said position). He ended up taking the job out of boredom and to seek a political "in" within the Weimar Republic as many of his "old world" contacts became outdated.

House name and background: The Haus von Heusmann has roots extending from the early Holy Roman Empire. The von Heusmann's being granted the Landgrafschaft Hessen after the previous family died out. The Haus von Heusmann has held the Hessen land for hundreds of years after. (It later became the Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt due to the division of the previous Landgraviate of Hesse). In the early 1800s, the land would become the Grand Duchy of Hesse. The Heusmann Family is a long lineage of prestigious statesmen, justice officials, military officers, and sovereigns. Their family remained pertinent throughout the ages. Upon its transformation into the Grand Duchy, Rudolf von Heusmann's Grandfather, Ernst Rudolf Albert von Heusmann, founded the Duchy and worked to make it more democratic making it a Constitutional Monarchy. However, unlike most constitutional monarchs, the sovereign has supreme overriding power within state politics but was a courtesy to let the system run by itself. After the death of his grandfather and eventually his father, Rudolf would take over as its seemingly last Grand Duke. The Grand Duchy of Hesse and by Rhine, was most well-known for its wealth, being dubbed the "Swiss of Germany" the von Heusmann's made a fortune between family companies, being the sovereign, and their deep connections to the Swiss banking system. Their duchy's motto. Gott, Ehre, Vaterland - "God, Honor Fatherland" stayed true within the Heusmann family as they were deeply devoted Catholics and demanded Honor before anything else in the family.

Why do you want to be nobility?: I aspire to become nobility because it builds off of previous backgrounds on other experiences that I have done in the past. In addition, I believe it is a type of roleplay I would like to pursue. I am decently knowledgeable on the Kaiserreich Era and even before that. This is an area where I can bring more passive roleplay too and just overall add more little "tid bits" if you will to this section of roleplay.

What will you do with your noble title?: I will use this title for credibility in regards to militarism, and other affairs within the Weimar Republic. This will add distinction to my name and will allow me to pursue avenues that I may not have previously been able to do so before.

--------------------------------------------------------------

What is the veteran rank you are applying for?:
Generalmajor

What are your plans with this character?: I intend to possibly go into the military or rank up in the political cabinet (seeing as I am the current Polizeiprasident der Berlin). Using the military experience and nobility as further credibility to be able to progress (due to experience).

Please give a short biography of the character: (The overall background can be seen in the above section, this section will focus on his war experience.) Upon assignment to his post as an Oberleutnat in the II Army Inspectorate, he would be assigned into the XVI Corps, 242nd Divison. He did menial tasks, mostly desk work. After months of constant paperwork and reports, he would apply to become the Divison's Chief Inspector. Eventually being accepted into the position he was promoted to Hauptmann and for many years would continue this line of work ensuring the quality of the division. As 1914 gloomed ever so closer, the II Inspectorate was mobilized for war. Although mostly consisting of Saxons, Rudolf was proud to serve for his Kaiser. the 3. Armee participated in the Battle of the Frontiers. This was a series of battles fought along the frontier of France and in southern Belgium. Most notably, they fought in the Battle of Charleroi. It was this battle in which Rudolf would receive his Iron Cross 2nd Class. After successfully repulsing the French Champagne-Marne offensive from February to March, Rudolf's Army Group would take part in all three battles of the Aisne. (These three battles would see the promotion of Rudolf to Hauptmann-Oberst). At the third battle of the Aisne he would gain the nickname "The Colonel" due to most of the regiment's command being torn apart, leaving Rudolf as one of the few command staff left. They would hold General Anthoine's 4th Army during the Second Battle of Aisne as apart of the Nivelle Offensive from April to May in 1917 (This would be the battle that led to his further promotion). Towards the end of the war, The Army suffered severe casualties, Rudolf being one of those injured, and was forced to retreat northward shortly before the war's end.

Does this character have any medals/awards?: If so, what are they and how did he get them? (Please note that more medals will make your application harder to be accepted)
- Iron Cross 2nd Class: Battle of the Charleroi, on the morning of the 21st of 1914 the French planned attack was cut off when the Germans decided to attack first, forcing back the French, Rudolf took charge of his regiment upon the death of most of his senior command staff. With coordination between him and 3rd Army commander, Max von Hausen, were able to almost successfully flank the French before a counter-attack at Dinant which lead to their army group's re-direction to the north-west. For Rudolf's Valient leadership and valor capabilities, he was commended with the Iron Cross 2nd Class.

- Iron Cross 1st Class: Second Battle of the Aisne, In this massive battle apart of the Nivelle Offensive, the Germans healed the east-west ridge of the Chemin des Dames. After valiant fighting but being overrun by the sheer numbers of allies, the overall their overall triumph led to the loss of this battle. However, during this battle, the French attempted to take the ridge but they were met with mass amounts of German Machine-gun and artillery fire. Being a backline Oberstleutnant at the time, Rudolf coordinated the artillery. The artillery fire resulted in many casualties and repelled a lot of the French Infantry. However, the French took many prisoners but failed to defeat the Germans due to the support weapons. It was at this battle Rudolf was commended the Iron Cross 1st Class for his coordination with the Artillery and the Infantry Regiments for providing the much-needed support.

- Long Sevice: Since serving since the start of the great war and saw it out to the end (and even before hand), he would have earned his long service award.

- Wound Badge 3rd Class: After the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, many of the 3rd Army sustained heavy casualties resulting in thousands of lives lost. While attempting to save the life of one of his fellow comrades in his regiment, he was shot in the leg. He was able to crawl and eventually limp his way to safety where he would receive medical attention and receive his wound badge.

- Grand Cross of the Ludwig Order: Awarded to him by his father, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine, for his civil merit on majorly expanding the Hessen Company - Heusmann Industrial. This company significantly bolstered the market within Hesse leading to a more prosperous Dukedom.

- Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class: Awarded to him by the Prussian crown for his military leadership excellence in the third battle of the Aisne. In addition, this also personified his valor in the previous 2 battles and for his family's and his own long and faithful service to the crown.

+1 This character will bring new and dynamic roleplay to the server with having a noble character that has an actual backstory and detail

A good friend of mine and certainly a friend of Citadel. I've had the pleasure of working with Palmer on a few occasions and each time I was impressed with his ability to play a character and make it feel alive. I am positive that he will show the same effort with this character and add to the roleplay environment of Citadel.

Very well thought out story, I'm sure that this character will bring very interesting roleplay and allow palmer to make his own, as well as others on the server experience better

+1 Interesting backstory and experienced roleplayer.

+support I've know Palmer for about two to three years now, the guy is an amazing roleplayer and the backstory and work put into it proves that.

Echoing a lot of the common themes being said in other reply posts, but I have to express my support too. Incredibly well written and explained throughout. Titles are not overbearing and or too power grabby and all coincide for a coherent and clear character. Palmer is an excellent staff and rolepleyer and a sensible guy, I very much support. Also very good medal elaborations!

I really enjoyed reading the application, it's quite in-depth and shows a unique character in the long run! I've also roleplayed with Palmer in the past and I wouldn't expect anything less, well done.

+1 Quite well done. Properly written and made well, with time committed to this application.
